What is your favorite type of game to play?

Strategy games; I enjoy games that require complex reasoning skills.

I like strategy games too. I used to play Starcraft back in the day. The Command and Conquer series, Civilization, and Warcraft are one of the best strategies.
But my favorite is multiplayer on consoles. Get all your friends talking shit and pissing each other off, its fucking priceless.

I had to pick Strategy games because I play those types of games such as Command&Conquer, Company of Heros, World in Conflict, and a few others, but I also enjoy first person shooters such as Battlefield 2 and all the expansions, Call of Duty, Day of Defeat. And finally sports & Racing games are great also.

Racing games good clean competitive fun. Grand turismo 3, Burnout: Revenge, and Midnight Club DUB edition are my favorites.
I also like rpgs. Oblivion, Final Fantasy series, Zelda games, Final fantasy: mystic quest (SNES)

I gotta go with RPG games, although MMORPG's are awesome too. Basically any kind of RPG with some strategy built in, which most have. First person shooters are fun, but I get pissed off because I can't do the things I do in real life. I'm use to walking into a building and being able to clear a large room in six or seven seconds. In first person shooters, you can't do that because all you can see is where you're aiming. No turning the head and looking around without turning your whole body. It tends to piss me off because I get frustrated, but I still like them. But yeah, MMORPG's and RPG's are the shit. Role Playing Games, not Rocket Propelled Grenades :). Don't like them too much.

How about IED's?

IED's are no fun. Although it is crazy to see all the shit they make them out of. Mostly our own rounds. IED's with 155mm rounds and propellant are bad for business. Especially if they have copper wire rapped all around them. Slices through up-armored vehicles (especially Humvees) like a hot knife through butter.

Never really heard of the copper wire thing, but none the less, the explosion can lift an M1A1 Abram off the ground. Lately in Iraq the insurgents have been throwing the explosive from the RPG-29 at humvees, taking them out very fast.

Well, the ones that put off that big of a punch are usually some kind of makeshift anti-tank mine. Like our M15. Honestly I haven't heard of the "throwing the explosive" thing. Never did that to us.

Ok, now I know what you're talking about. Never happened to us though. It's an improvised RPG round with a pin in it so you can ignite the fuse and throw it. Just like a grenade, except grenades aren't generally armor piercing, although they have been know to do it. They're just not made to.

It's a RKG-3 anti-tank grenade, not the RPG-29.

"RKG-3 grenades were used in an attack on an American Humvee,[1] and RKG-3 grenades have been captured by US Marines from insurgents in Al Anbar"

Yeah there is a pin, just when I read this. "ignite the fuse and throw it"
You don't ignite a fuse, you just pull the pin, no ignition.

October 3rd, 2007, 12:20 AM
Well then what is the purpose of the pin? If there's no fuse, that would make it unreliable. If it only explodes on contact, then there's no guarantee it will go off, especially with the little parachutes slowing them down. Please elaborate if you can.

"Well then what is the purpose of the pin? If there's no fuse, that would make it unreliable. If it only explodes on contact, then there's no guarantee it will go off,"
With the pin removed, there is nothing holding the lever in position, which means there is nothing holding the spring-loaded striker up. The spring throws the striker down against the percussion cap. The impact ignites the cap, creating a small spark.
The spark ignites a slow-burning material in the fuze. In about four seconds, the delay material burns all the way through.
The end of the delay element is connected to the detonator, a capsule filled with more combustible material. The burning material at the end of the delay ignites the material in the detonator, setting off an explosion inside the grenade.
The explosion ignites the explosive material around the sides of the grenade, creating a much larger explosion that blows the grenade apart.
"can ignite the fuse and throw it"
When you said this, it looks like you ment that you light a fuse and then throw it, dosn't happen like that.
"especially with the little parachutes slowing them down. Please elaborate if you can"
It uses a parachute to slow down the process of it, the actual AP gernade is tip sensitive, the parachute allows the user to get out of the way.

I know you don't literally "ignite it." But with grenades, you pull the pin, and when you release the grenade, it ignites the fuse to make it a timed explosive. I was also just wondering because most pressure-senstive (blows on contact) explosives have to have a certain amount of impact or they become a UXO (Unexploded Ordinance). That is why I didn't understand putting parachutes on it if it didn't work like a hand grenade. I figured they had modified it, like they do everything else, and turned it into basically a larger grenade.

-Yeah, most gernades are timed explosives but there are alot of impact gernades also.
" I was also just wondering because most pressure-senstive (blows on contact) explosives have to have a certain amount of impact or they become a UXO (Unexploded Ordinance)."
-That is why there is a proper technique to throwing gernades (Up high).
"That is why I didn't understand putting parachutes on it if it didn't work like a hand grenade."
-The parachute serves two purposes, to slow it down a touch and so it always lands on the tip and not its side.
"I figured they had modified it, like they do everything else, and turned it into basically a larger grenade"
-They do that usually with guns that don't work anymore, then using different things attached on a different weapon. The two main things the insurgents alter are rockets, and heavy bombs that blow up on detonation. I also have seen giant propane tanks used as an IED.

Now you're just preaching to the choir. All of this I know. I was just giving you reasons why I thought it worked like a hand grenade. And FYI, we don't use any kind of impact grenades. Also, the "heavy bombs" you refer to are IEDs. They will never use a propane tank alone as an IED. It doesn't do enough. And they modify everything. They use trash with explosives in them to trick us. They hide them in the bodies of dead animals as well. They also bury them. These are all forms of IEDs. I've seen them all, and none of them are very fun.

-I know you don't, I said the Insurgents in Iraq were using them against the United States.
"Also, the "heavy bombs" you refer to are IEDs. They will never use a propane tank alone as an IED. It doesn't do enough. And they modify everything. They use trash with explosives in them to trick us."
- Heavy bombs? Please quote me where I referred anything about a "heavy bomb". Insurgents have exploded propane tanks fill with chlorine, or have been filled with explosives to create a more destructive bomb. The insurgents don't modify everything, they modify things they can't use.
"They hide them in the bodies of dead animals as well. They also bury them. These are all forms of IEDs. I've seen them all, and none of them are very fun"
-Never once have I heard of Insurgents placing IED's in a dead animal then blowing it up, I have seen them placed in roads, left in car/trucks, not dead animals.
One more thing... What's your military unit number and how many guys do you work with in your military unit?

Well, then you have been misinformed once again. They put the IEDs in anything. And I can also see you're trying to figure out if I'm lying. I don't blame you for that, there are many people who lie. I deployed with Charlie Co 110th. I won't tell you who I'm with now, but I am under the 203rd Engineer Battalion.
I've been there kid, I've seen the shit they do. You haven't, plain and simple. I mean no offense to you, but take my word for it when I say that they do the craziest shit to hide their IEDs. If there's a dead dog on the side of a road we travel on, you can bet your ass they might put an artillery round in it. They do whatever they can so we can't see the device.

-No I just never heard of insurgents putting bombs in dead bodies, from my sources in Kandahar Afghanistan, news, or military websites.
"I've been there kid, I've seen the shit they do. You haven't, plain and simple."
-Just because I havn't been there dosn't mean I don't know what is going on. I have got a few sources, first and second hand. There is no difference between Iraq and Afghanistan, were fighting the same enemy, just different terrain. I will be looking forward to some videos and pictures from the battlezones in Iraq from you.
"They do whatever they can so we can't see the device"
-Ineed they will, but thing is, I never heard of this "tactic" of insurgents planting IED's or any explosive in dead bodies. It should be in the news if it dose happen. I don't doubt you, just never heard of it, and I get alot of information from sources.

The news doesn't display a lot of things that go on. And there is indeed a difference between Iraq and Afghanistan. The warfare is the same, yes, but there is a great difference. There is definitely more terrorist activity in Iraq than Afghanistan, due to the larger amount of troops, and the greater level of anti-American sentiment. The only videos and pictures I have from Iraq are on the DVD thing they made and in my photo album. I'm actually not that great with computers, and I don't have a scanner. None of the pictures and videos I have are very interesting though, just landscape of Iraq and everyday life as a Soldier there. That's about it. Oh, and I didn't mean to get defensive, it was just that your posts insinuated that I was wrong and didn't know what I was talking about. You can imagine how that makes us mad. By the way, a thread of this nature would be better suited in the Politics forum, instead of Games, don't you think lol?

-They don't when it comes to something they want kept from the media.
"The warfare is the same, yes, but there is a great difference. There is definitely more terrorist activity in Iraq than Afghanistan, due to the larger amount of troops, and the greater level of anti-American sentiment."
-Full out house to house fighting yes, but insurgent ambushes no, I would have to disagree with you on that one, there are alot of IED attacks in Afghanistan on Canadian,British,American,German,French,Austrailia n forces in Afghanistan, the fighting might be a little less heavy. Now there is no fighting in Iraq but sucide attacks in markets. Sunni insurents are fighting Al-Qaeda forces. After Fallujah, there hasn't been anything like that since 2004.
"I have from Iraq are on the DVD thing they made and in my photo album. I'm actually not that great with computers"
-Get windows media player 11 and put your dvd into the dvd drive and rip it from the dvd and place it on your desktopfor easy access. Like I said, I will be waiting for those.
"I'm actually not that great with computers"
-Either am I, but what I showed you is very easy to do.
"and I didn't mean to get defensive, it was just that your posts insinuated that I was wrong and didn't know what I was talking about."
