Christianity is like any religion. Certain people feel more strongly about it and tend to put it out there, much to others' displeasure. Unfortunately, Christianity tends to attract a lot of those type of, people, mainly because of how many christians there are worldwide. Also, a lot of 'cult' Christians were pretty much bred to do nothing but go out and spread their religion.

I found that in many social circles, people rarely make Jewish jokes, and using the words Muslim and terrorist in the same sentence is tabuu.
however, everyone seems to be ok with calling Christians idiots.
can someone (without flamming) provide a reasonable explanation to this??

Where exactly do you live that its like this? Depending on where you live, it could be just the opposite.

Around where I live very few people poke fun at Christianity as a religion, or really any other faith for that matter. Maybe I just live in a better educated area. :D

Just because I'm Christian doesn't mean I eat up everything I'm told. Most (if not all) educated Christians belive in evolution and that the earth is far older than the bible suggests. We don't belive that we are superior, we belive that we have a different way of following the same God as everyone else. And while I will admit that Christians try to convert everyone, try to remember that it's just what we do. My point in posting this thread was to show how steryoetypes lead to racism and intolerance. I just think that people shouldn't be alienated for expressing a point of view. Finally, for all of you who belive that religion is BS, humans have evolved as social creatures and seek organization in groups of ppl like themselves. It doesn't realy matter if there is a God (my opinion is irrevelnt) people have an internal urge to belive in a greater power.

Also, intolerance of any religion should be viewed as wrong, unfortunately original poster is correct in believing that intolerance of christians is viewed as less harmful than intolerance of other religions. It's different wherever you go. People in West Virginia aren't going to be making Christian jokes because it's in the Bible-belt. People here do however tell more black, gay, and basically anything not white and Christian, jokes than anywhere I've ever been. But it's also West Virginia. Also, I'd say it's a trend. Time will pass and they'll move onto another religion, race, etc, and that will be popular for a bit while they get angry at someone for making a Christian joke.

If God tells me all my sins are absolved if i just pray, and I believe in god, I will pray. However, If i dont believe in god, and he tells me pray to be absolved, I won't pray, at that point, anyone who does, looks down at me, "because I'm a sinner". The bible says do not judge, however cristians seem to be a group of the most judgemental people in the world. ( stereotypically speaking ) . I can't knock the idea of religion, because it does help some, but those whom it doesn't help, shouldn't be forced into it, or judged based on their beliefs.

There are a two different types of christians. There are what i like to call the militant ones who scream their religion in your face and want you to believe them and only them (I hate those *shudder). They tend to be the old fire and brimstone type who wont listen to any arguements and it really is impossible to have a decent debate with. Then there are the normal christians we, yes i am a christian, are willing to listen to people and talk about religion with respect. We respect other religions and agree that everyone is allowed their own belief systems. People don't tend to notice anything but the psyco screaming that your all going to hell. lol
