I think the point of a religion is to help people live happier, more fulfilling lives while enhancing others lives as well. I try not to focus to much on the afterlife part and more on the living part. I believe the wicked will be punished and the righteous rewarded at some point in some form, but it doesn't really matter to me how it happens.

If you think the bible counts as evidence of a gods existence do you think all ancient texts and books describing gods are also factual. Do you think other gods these texts describe exist like Anubis, Thor, Horus, Odin? Because they have exactly the same good, physical evidence that the christian god does. How do you know what is written in bible is what was written 2000 years ago? There is no sure way to know that the bible is still true to its original form.

The meteorite (a meteor is a piece of debris from space that doesnt make it into our atmosphere) example is totally fucking stupid,if my wife came to tell me that a meteorite was going to hit the earth dont you think I would fucking check for myself? Religon is a pointless thing to make us feel better about ourselves and our existence. I believe worrying about something you have no control over and praying to someone you will never hear, isn't worth my time. I live and exist to find happiness without destroying happiness for others. If there is a God/Goddess that watches over and made this Earth. I'm sure I won't be doomed to an eternity in a fire because I made the choice to just be a good person and not believe in magic spirits in the sky. Which brings me to my other point, hell is any illogical concept, to think that a life of simple mistakes can justify a never ending punishment in a lake of fire is garbage. Really I think all we ever really need to do is follow the one rule which most religons seem to echo which is "harm none and do what ye will." or to christians the golden rule.
