Post bands From Your Local City / County Scene.
My City Oxnard, is famous for "Nardcore" Formed originally in the 80's with such bands Agression, Ill Repute, Rich Kids on LSD, Dr. Know, The Missing 23rd, Global Warning, NOFX's 1st Album, etc.. All thanks to Mystic Records, for proclaming & putting out hundreds of local punk bands on vinyl at the time. Most bands never saw a penny, but got some tour support. Doug Moody gave Agression once a credit card on tour, than cancelled it next day, after being charged 2600 bucks. But he bailed countless members out of jail, etc.
Now we have a new 30 years later compilation out, with newer bands staying to the old roots Dogends, The Last Priority, Oxnard Skate trash, Rat Pack, The Fucking Wrath, Ahh Da Beeyas, Blasting Concept, Keep Fighting, The Original Punk Rawk Elvis (GG Elvis), etc.. Our scene is still strong & alive. With still og bands from back in the day playing, touring, etc.. except a few tragic death's. But its still going strong..
What is your town's scene / music scene famous for, bands in the area.

I live between Baltimore and Washington DC. Baltimore has a ton of up-and-coming punk bands and there's actually a pretty good scene now that there's a handful of little venues around. Obviously DC is known for hardcore bands like Minor Threat and the Bad Brains. As far as i'm aware, there are no punk bands in my town and there are no venues in my town or the surrounding towns, anymore. From what I've heard, the hardcore scene in DC is doing really well again too.
My favorite "local" band is probably Corporate Agenda from Baltimore.

i went on a trip with friends to DC. Day before i left & after there were some really big shows i was told. Some shit called farm fest where a d00d got like 50 bands to play on a farm, but i went sight seeing instead, considering it was a drive away from Alexandria.

Our scene in Pheonix is pretty fucking great.
For one, the SxSW Tour lies riiiiight in the path between Texas and Cali, so we get the best of california's music rolling through us on the way to the show.
Also, all the hole in the wall clubs are making killings out here, I attribute that to the wide drug use out here, it's all too common to see people loading up bongs or meth pipes in the back of a venue then walking in through the propped back door, the bouncers are just as likely to ask for a hit or a bowl to stay shut, but no one EVER rings up cops, even for those riots after a particular gnarly set.

I've heard phoenix has a good scene, out here in vegas. Not too many bigger bands come out. Last show I went to was last week I think, phobia and a bunch of local bands were playing, and I think a couple were from Cali.

The punk rock scene in North Carolina is dismal at best, no one comes here because there is nothing here to come too. Most of out young peoples creativity is stunted from the day they are pulled out of the womb.

The punk scene in Portland is...well, it depends on how you look at it. A majority of the scene is fashion punxxx and elitists, whom I don't consider real punks. But there are tons of shows and tons of venues.
So I guess you could say the music aspect is alive, but the people need a little bit of a reality check.
I used to live in Hawaii, and the scene there is actually amazing. The only big band that came from Oahu was 8mm overdose, but there are a ton of local bands and a show at least every friday. It's a small scene, but so passionate that it makes up for it.

Berkeley/Oakland/San Francisco area, CA.
We've actually got a pretty good scene, with loads of new bands that no one's ever heard of...and some of the bigger ones started off here (like Greenday, but now everyone hates them...)...Dead Kennedys are from SF, Rancid...probably some more.

I support Greenday.
Everyone calls 'em sell outs, but to be honest, Billy Joe has been recording for 30 some odd years, he fucking deserves his pay check at this point.
And everyone trashes on how mainstream they are with their newest shit, American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, it may be mainstream, but it is GOOD.

I don't really like them, but that's their music. I don't really care if they're making money or not.

I liked dookie. Anyway back on thread my local punk scene is more of a hardcore scene, Im really the only person i know who actually listens to punk. And I fucking love it. Only thing that sucks is that there aren't many local shows. Anywho, we have degeneration thursday nights at the halfpenny, where tom around the world dj's and takes punk requests. Mostly college students show up, fuckin shitty ass locals only listen to trend-rock, or rap.
