Ok, I am essentially a n00b when it comes to hacking, so I am hoping the wise ones can help me here. If I have already acquired a person's IP address and if they will accept files from my computer, is there any means by which I can remotely shut down their computer without the use of a virus?

Thanks although I am already aware of that way. What I meant though was to do it to someone's computer overthe internet or with a file I send them.

Yeah, now that I think about it, your right Paranoid, that would technically be considered a virus. Just had a lapse in common sense I guess :P

No, it wouldn't, actually.
For a program to be a computer virus, it needs the ability to replicate itself and infect multiple parts of the system.
At any rate, there's no point to this thread. There's no practical reason you would need to do this. It's not exploratory, it doesn't advance your knowledge any, and it's purely driven by malice.
Stop being a dumbass.

You could use a program like Gencontrol if you are running Windows on a network. I think it only works using the settings provided with Windows Pro and not Home edition. It is a freeware/shareware program too so its free to use. You can't really use Gencontrol over the internet to my knowledge, but if you are at a library or school it should work wonders. Be sure to read into it a bit and stay out of trouble. Remember that some schools have logs of all the programs you open or run on the network. If you plan on pranking a friend be sure to know the risks of getting caught.

Yeah everything on a computer is essentially a "script" of some sort. This kid probably needs a little more detail than that. I mean are you talking about Javascript, VBScript, or just a generic line of code you found on Google? Not to be picky or anything but advice like this needs real substance or the people you are talking to will not understand what you mean.

I always thought a virus only had to be capable of self replication. Never knew about the infecting multiple parts of a system bit. Interesting definition, one that I quite like.

Seriously people! My 14 year old friend wrote this batch file that will immediately force Windows to shutdown, loosing all unsaved documents!!
<code>shutdown -f -s</code>
just paste it into a notepad file and save it as whateverthehellyouwanttocallit.bat
