i've been listening to a shitload of Amon Amarth lately, fucking awesome band.....

but apparently there's a few others who do the whole viking metal thing as well, anyone have any suggestions?

plus they know their shit too, the songs about norse mythology are dead on........plus even if you don't like that shit they're just a good straight up metal band too.

they sound like neither, their earlier stuff sounds kinda like death metal but their more recent stuff just sounds like them.

i think "With Oden on Our Side" is their most recent album, but i'm not sure (been a while since i downloaded anything new or kept up with most of the bands i listen to)

anyways the above is my favorite.

Running Wild, but they're more pirate, some of Bathory's work after BM, Ensiferum, Triglav Storm Warrior, Waylander, Manegarm, Tyr, I don't know, viking metal isn't central for a lot of bands, granted a lot of bands use a lot of viking lyrics.

ya that's true, there's a shitload of metal songs about vikings but not many bands that do strictly the viking/norse thing....


but ya 3 of the 4 videos posted worked, and i kinda like that kinda stuff so i'll check those bands out as well as the others mentioned (cadaver's first video didn't work for some reason)

that rasputin song is fucking catchy as hell though......it's like a drinking song almost.

I also have a metal buff friend who posts on www.massimmolation.net he might be able to help you find even more underground black/thrash/power metal bands. He seems to like more finnish metal than anything though.

they're technically swedish death metal but arguing about genres and sub genres is one of the most nit picking assine things you can do.......

as for finnish bands i can only think of finntroll........and their lyrics are in swedish.


and alucard is right, kreator is german thrash........i don't even think they do any songs about vikings but they kick ass.

and whitechapel those are mostly harcdore bands.....good shit too, but nothing to do with vikings and shit.
