This forum is practically empty, so I guess I should break the ice with a thread. Also I wanted to post this in the general discussion forum, but this seems more fitting for drug safety.

So I have watched a lot of in-between breaks on television, and a lot of them are "above the influence" commercials. They often depict some teenager who is unhappy because of using marijuana, and he or she somehow end up hurting their family and friends. Also the people who make this commercial give the message that doing pot will make you weak and submissive to others for the sake of being "cool".

So do you believe what these commercials tell you? Should you really stop puffing that joint because it will allegedly hurt yourself and the ones you love?

I'm pretty sure threads get auto deleted in here after a few days of non use. Happened to me. Anyway... yeah those commercials are bullshit. I either get angry or just laugh when i see them. I'd also like to point out that the commercials used to be about not starting to use drugs, and now they are about the viewer already using drugs, and to stop.

Those commercials are all funded by the tobacco and alchohol industry. I love how one is told not to use those 'bad' drugs, and next one sees a Bacardi limon commercial followed by a Sam Adams one right after an anti 'drug' clip. They'd still be advertising tobacco on television if it wasn't for legislation back in the eighties, and that doesn't stop 'em from promoting their products almost everywhere else. Tobacco companies (Philip Morris/RJ Renolds) even back smoking cessation ads, just cuz it is another lucrative manner in which to profit from others' suffering...sucks to live in this sort of world---full of hyprocrites pointing their fingers at other less prominent/influential hyprocrites.

One commercial I saw depicted a child with mysterious cigarette burn marks appearing on his body at random times. I thought "man, this kid needs less abusive parents". But of course, the REAL cause of the burn marks is revealed when that same kid looks into his sister's room to see her toking with her friends. And then she looked at the boy and just had a "I'm so sorry I hurt you" face, even though she didn't lay a finger on him.

Oh please, as if mary jane is the one thing that does harm to people on this planet.

Reading from your post, I'm a bit confused that a web site dedicated to eliminating drugs has a game where you escape TO an island of cannabis. Whatever, I'll look into it.

I saw a lot of retarded stuff on that web site. The stoners were treated as if they were animals on some nature show. Plus the people were exaggerating almost every aspect of anyone smoking marijuana.

"Uhhhh...What's that in your hair?" That line cracked me up when I saw that on that website.
