Does having sex hurt or help a relationship? (In your opinion)

depends on the people.

sex within the relationship makes the relationship great. if the sex invovles cheating on one's significant other, it obviously hurts the relationship.

There is no undisputed answer on this. It all really goes down to what kind and how into the relationship it is.

Such would be that a person would have sex with another on a first date, and it doesn't last because there is little challenge in doing it. Having sex after say, a fourth date will make the sex seem more meaningful. And so, this in turn can filter out any people who just want sex as some one night stand, thus increasing the chance of being with someone willing to maintain a steady relationship.

But of course, there is the possiblity that it could be how the act itself was performed. Being really great at sex, foreplay and all, could bring about a more satisfying relationship. And being bad at sex(I don't know how you could possibly mess that up, unless you were a virgin) can in turn end a possible relationship.

Then again, it might not be sex itself that drastically affects a relationship, as there are other factors to consider like money and personality.

Not really, sex can be just as meaningful on the first date. If it feels like "it was meant to be" type thing.

Then again, it might not be sex itself that drastically affects a relationship, as there are other factors to consider like money and personality.

There are a lot of things that affect a relationship. Personality, looks, positions of power, wealth, influence, fame, exclusivity etc.

But all in all i think that not having sex/being abstinent and if two people are willing to do that strengthens their relationship because they get closer so they can reach a goal. In other cases, having sex regularily keeps the relationship exciting. I do agree it depends on the relationship.

I would rather have sex ever day instead of wait a long time, so sex helps me personally.

FUCK man, you just reminded me of the time my exgirlfriend gave me the present of "not having sex for a month" because it would make it that much better. But it only went for 9 days.

Wasn't cool.

Sex has been shown to be good for a relationship. Doctors have done studies and such. And I can see that too. You and your significant other get into a huge argument and how do you make up? Angry sex.

Its actually better to indulge in sex instead of repress it, like Kas said.

Hahaha...angry sex. I'm laughing just thinking about the yelling and roughness involved.

for a lot of people, sex IS the relationship haha! personally, I need more than that at the moment, but all the men I meet are cunts, so no such luck! Still - an empty fuck is better than no fuck at all!!

I like it intense and passionate, like when people first decide to do it....god, that is the best feeling.

Most of the women I know are the same way. I'm still looking for my soulmate, even if the concept is laughable to some.

I'm very passionate during sex. Seriously, I just can't stand the thought of not satisfying a partner enough after I'm done.

That didn't do anything. I think it was just the person like it got to familiar

For me, I gotta say there have been times when sex has hurt and when sex has defiantly helped. It seems like every time we see each other now, we can't help but rip each others clothes off. However, there are times believe it or not when I'm simply not into it, and she'll get pissy causing a fight. Overall, though sex can be a very good thing.

i say for the most part it helps. but only in the right amount. when ppl have sex it releases an enzyme in their brains that make them feel even more affectionate towards their partner, but if ppl have too much sex then they stop feeling the effect because they are so used to a high amount of it being present then it no longer has any effect on the relationship.
