when it comes to software that's my forte, hardware tho, I ain't so good, My brother moved out and that asshole took the computer with him, and I don't have contact, anyways... I need to buy another computer but I want to buy it custom since I need certain specs, I'm lost when it comes to what items or brands I gotta get so help. I need

750gb SATA HD - got that
motherboard that supports dualcore CPU of atleast 2.6 and up
motherboard that supports multiple ram slots to reach 4 gigs
good videocard
4 USB slots
computer case that fits this
probably a dualcore CPU 2.6 -3.0
cd/DVD drive

I know u can go to newegg for alot of this (maybe all) but I don't want to deal with compatibility issues and end up getting them Wrong. so link me up if ur helpful and give an estimate of the price yea thx in advanced

No one wants to do your fucking research for you kid. And that last post was my first in the hacking forum.

i dont even know what he needs help with... he said what he wants so go buy it find out if they are compatible done easy shit

when you are looking for parts look at the specs they will say what it is compatible with and what it isn't, as for the case, most cases have multiple mounts that will fit just about any motherboard

Ya there are only like 3-5 actual hackers on here...

So its no surprise your not getting all the help ya need.

i built my computer too, when i was like 12 or 13 years old(i am being serious) i just had an adult order the parts for me

deathlord888
February 5th, 2009, 09:02 PM
same here, it is really not hard just a bit of research and you are done

twenglish1
February 5th, 2009, 09:09 PM
yah and the way it seems with me is i was born with knowledge of electronics, cause i have been messing around with them(taking shit apart and building stuff) since i was like 2 years old

deathlord888
February 5th, 2009, 09:12 PM
i cant solder lol

twenglish1
February 5th, 2009, 09:27 PM
im pretty decent at it, i have been soldering since i was like 10(no joke, my dad is into all this stuff too and he taught me so much about it)

It doesn't take a hacker to build a computer. It barely even takes a retard to build a computer.

i can do it i am just horrible at it, i have shaky hands kinda so i cant do small stuff

so in the help me section, not one of you even put a bit of effort into huh, so posting useless shit instead of actually doing a big of searching, im asking for help since all i got for internet access is an ipod and thats shit to actually do research on.

you never clearly stated what you needed help with, we aren't doing the work for you

Thanks mate. Sorry I have a life that doesn't revolve around wiping your ass.

Now, on building a computer.

First, I'd look for a processor. AMD has some nice (budget priced) stuff. But, the thing with newer processors is that the clock speed can be misleading.

Lets compare three different processors: a single core, a dual core, and a quad core: all of which are rated at 3.0Ghz.

The single core can only put out at *max* 3.0Ghz. If you try to overclock it, you might be able to squeeze some more out, and perhaps a little more if you super-cool it.

The dual core, being that it has two dies on it, is *actually* putting out around 6.0Ghz of combined effort. Only difference, really, is that you're processing in parallel via two processors.

The quad core, being that it has four dies on it, is pushing put nearly 12Ghz of combined effort. But again, everything is done in parallel... and that's only when the OS and underlying applications are written to be multithreaded.

So there's little advantage right now in buying these tri-core and quad-core machines. Most consumer OSs are limited enough to only take advantage of single and dual core chips. My advice on that is something like a Core 2 Duo by Intel, or an AMD 6000+.

Of course the AMD is much cheaper, but you tend to have heat issues. So it's really a trade off between cost and whether or not you're willing to invest a bit into your cooling system.

Buying a motherboard should come next. Obviously, you want a motherboard that is compatible with the processor you're buying. Another thing you need to look at is expansion. How many DIMMs does it have? Whats the maximum supported memory? How many PCI and PCI-E slots does it have? Is it SATA3 compatible?

Things like that are usually just for bragging rights, but if you're building your rig up... they *do* matter. You'd hate to waste a shit-ton of money on a fancy motherboard and RAM, only to find out that they're not compatible.

Motherboards are measured by "form factor". That is more or less comprised of where certain ports are in relation to the "front" and "back" of the board and how it's positioned into the case. The most popular and widely available boards are ATX and Mini-ATX.

ATX is a "full size" board, meaning, it has space for plenty of PCI/PCI-E devices, and probably more DIMMs than a Mini-ATX board.

Good name brands in the motherboard business are people like Gigabyte and MSI. ASUS is a decent board, but if you're doing anything with Linux, have fun getting drivers to work properly. Stay away from ECS at *all* costs.

Next you're probably going to want to look at RAM. RAM is important, obviously... so don't skimp on quality. Typical clock speed for a good piece of ram is from 800mhz to 1066mhz. But make sure your motherboard can handle it. If not, it wont even try to work.

Good name brands for RAM are Corsair and Crucial. OCZ and Kensington are targeted at people on running a budget... and their quality shows it.

After that, you'd probably want to look at graphics cards. The leaders in that area are nVidia and ATI. I, personally, would tell ATI to go suck my left nut. I have an ATI chip in my laptop right now (HD3450), and it can hardly play games (most I've gotten on it is COD4 @ 1024x768 ... and it was choppy).

I recommend nVidia cards sold by XFX. They're relatively inexpensive and some come factory overclocked (look for the "XXX" editions). Good quality consumer card is a 9600GT. More or less an updated version of the 8600GT XXX that I'm running in my desktop, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Now that you have the essentials covered, you need a way to power it all up. Power supplies are a big deal: if your power supply cant handle the load you give it, your rig will suck... hard.

I am currently running a 620W AeroCool PSU, and I've never had a problem with it. Brands like Antec sometimes ship duds from the factory... so be careful for that type of thing. Also, if you're going to be getting fancy graphics cards like 9800GTX's or GT280's, you'll need a power supply that supports the external power cable that is required.

Now, depending on what you've decided to get... your rig has the potential to get *dangerously* hot. Anything more than 50C and I start getting nervous. Zalman makes some of the best cooling equipment that I've seen. Or, if you're more of a liquid cooling guy, Thermaltake isn't terribly bad.

After all of that stuff is taken care of, you just have to worry about the case. Depending on your budget and how you'd like the thing to look, you have lots of options. Antec and Thermaltake make some very nice and affordable cases. I run an Antec 900 Gaming Case. The good thing about this case, is that it has slots for lots of harddrives and disk trays, has space for 7 fans (including a 200mm case-vent up top).

The thing to look for in a case is its ability to let air flow freely, and its ability to be expanded (newer/better/faster electronics components to be put in.. without any major fabrication work).

Other than the tower, all you really have to worry about is the screen, mouse & keyboard, and an optional universal backup power-supply (power failures can cause *major* problems with computers, so a UPS sustains a constant voltage to it... even if the power is out).

And, after all of that being said, lets get back to your sorry ass.

self proclaimed hackers

This is not the time or place to discuss it, but there are very few (if any) legitimate "self proclaimed hackers". Get this notion out of your head, ASAP.

If you don't value the community and staff here, you can go elsewhere. And if you continue to make comments like this, I really suggest you *do* go elsewhere.

well I thank u for actually doing a job, but I was angry at the moment of writing that , see I don't mind a little idle conversation but I was in a bit of a hurry of trying to get this Down, nothing like that woulda been said if a first legitamate attempt came and then some random shot after that.
