if you have a severely addictive personality ((it's my opinion that everyone has a somewhat addictive peronality and it's noticeability is determined by it's severity)) then it can be addictive, but it's entirely determined by what your personality is....

It really depends on your personality, like everyone else has said, but if you can just say your gonna quit and actually do it then it's just a habit, if you cant then it's addictive. It was easy for me to stop smoking pot, but I've never been able to do that with cigars.

Some things do not depend on the person like amphetamines. Opiates are also habbit forming if you take them all the time you will depend on them. Weed however habitual.

and how addictive is chewing gum exactly? i mean i used to chew gum all the damn time, now i dont, and i didnt have to ween myself off or anything....

and how can you scientifically prove that a chemical is as addictive as the act of chewing a piece of gum? chewing gum is a habbit, it is in no way physically addictive, your body does not turn into being dependant on chewing gum, the only way you can prove to me that thc is addictive is if you show me someone who's suffering from withdrawl and even then, im sure i could find other reasons he could be.....

And addiction is a broad word, do you mean addicting like physically dependence or are you talking about a psychological addiction?

However it is only a slight craving and is not addictive in the same way other drugs are. I see cuddles point if you are an addictive bastard then a slight craving can become a raging addiction.

I was actually addicted to chewing gum for a while.

but seriously, I smoked pot almost everyday for about a month and then realised my tolerance was high as fuck, so I stopped for a month. The only thing that happened is that I was kinda stressed out (which was probably because of finals.)

I think that if you have alot of troubles you start to depend on Marijuana to keep you in a state of mind that isn't the state of mind you would be in without it.

Anything human beings do is basically habit forming. Chewing gum can become a habit like chewing finger nails can. I think weeds habit forming and some what addictive. The only reason withdrawal symptoms from it aren't that bad is because it gets released out of your system relatively slow.

K, weed can cause dependence, look here is a quote from the House of Lords cannabis report.
new evidence from animal studies showing marked signs of withdrawal in animals treated repeatedly with large doses of cannabinoids and then challenged with a newly developed cannabinoid CB1 receptor antagonist (see Box 1) called SR141716A. This has provided the first real evidence for physical dependence and withdrawal symptoms in animals (QQ 308-310). So, yes it does have slight physical dependence.
But, the same report says later in th report...
It is therefore clear that cannabis causes psychological dependence in some users, and may cause physical dependence in a few. The Department of Health sum up the position thus (p 45, cp Edwards Q 28): "Cannabis is a weakly addictive drug but does induce dependence in a significant minority of regular cannabis users."

So, to settle this, yes weed can be addictive. But, it isn't a strong addiction.
