does anyone know how to take one of those magnetic security things from clothing stores?

i stole a hat from pac sun and i have no idea how to take it off

-_- needle nose pliars and some elbow grease. or if you have a rare earth magnet(thinkgeek.com sells alot for cheap), use that on the front part of it and it will snap in half.

my friend took wire cutters to the top and it came right off, at first i thought that it was a magnet thing that would take some type of contraption to take off but it turns out that its a pin thing

it is a magnet that holds them on, but you can take a knife, heat it up and use it to cut the plastic to get to the locking mecanism

here is a sucky diagram i made of the locking mechanism:

__|__< this top piece is pushed down on the bearings tight by a spring

| |O| the O are ball bearings when the plate is being pushed down the bearing lock the
|O| | pin in place
a strong magnet is used to pull the metal plate up releasing the tension on the ball bearings freeing the pin
