I totally own that book already, I read it in fifth grade :p
Slawter - The movie wasn't good, I'll give you that. But the book was a good read, not nearly as entertaining as anything by Stephen King though :)
I'm going to try to find that series now

Animal Farm was interesting in that you could plainly see the real-life counterparts of the characters (Stalin, Trotsky, the US, Hitler, etc.).
But 1984 was better.
Much better.
Read it.
You will love it.

I read the book of saladin by some arab guy I can't remember. I had to special order it to get it but it was pretty good. It had a surprisingly lot of sex in it haha
man's search for meaning is good.
I like every book C.S. Lewis has written (that i've read) but especially mere christianity, the great divorce, and the screwtape letters.

shit i haven't read jim nortons' book yet.........the new one comes out in like two weeks too
but ya a clockwork orange is fucking awesome (as was the movie), 1984 and Animal Farm both Classics too...
read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in English class last year, thought it was gonna be really gay honestly but that is an amazing book, i'm surprised at how anti religious/ anit society, and anti racism it was.
the hells angels and fear and loathing by hunter s. thompson are also fucking great...
and without remorse by tom clancy is a great book too (most of his books are great, that's just my favorite)

well ya but that movie is a cinematic classic, no movie can be as specific as a book unless the book was total shit.
i also recommend "lies my teacher told me" idk the author but it's a fun little book about american history and the lies incorporated into what we're all taught (or were taught) in school....

The greatest books i have ever read (and i read 5-10 hours a day Every day since i was 10 and discovered terry pratchet) are the sword of truth series by Terry Goodkind Its kinda of a typical sword and sorcery low fantasy for the first book but once you get to books 5+ its amazing , the best way i can describe them are a kind of sociological/psychological and philosophical look at humanity , society , and history, but it manages to be some of the most entertaining books i have ever read keeping the sword and sorcery that made the fantasy genre what it is. i cant recommend those books enough , they changed the way i look at the world.
another great read is the night watchmen by terry pratchet, it will take a while for you to understand the way he writes and what he writes for that matter but its the most entertaining of his books for a first time reader.
shanara is shanara and thats all there is to it. standard Sword and Sourcery High fantasy
robert jordan's wheel of time was tolerable for a few books but eventually i just skipped any parts with female characters, due to the idiocy he writes them with.
Elizabeth Haydon's Rhapsody Child of Blood and the following series was a fairly good read.
Terry Brooks writes some really good stuff , the Magic kingdom serise i remember as being really good but then again i was 11 when i last read them

If Fantasy is your thing, I would suggest Trudi Canavan. She has two different trilogies that she has written, and I found both of them really good.

I'm a big spy/action thriller myself, I've just about read most decent books in that genera. Here are some recommendations for those interested.
Bannerman series by John Maxim - Probably the best spy/covert ops books on the market, I'm surprised they haven't gone after this guy like they have had Robert Ludlum and the Borne series with movies. A phenomenal read. There are 5 books in the main story line, with 3 or 4 side ones that come together at the end. Every single one of the books are good.
Thomas Perry- Another fun author, his old stuff was better than the stuff he's putting out now. "The Butchers Boy" and "Let Sleeping Dog Lie" are a 2 part series about a professional killer that are about as realistic as it gets. He also has one called "Dr. Metzger's Dog" which is more comical about a group of people blackmailing the CIA.
Robert Ludlum - I hate his new stuff. The first Borne was good and some others. I personally think he new stuff really isn't up to par, but not too bad if you want to keep entertained.
Michael Chrichton has a couple good ones out, I like his mainly because they tend to have happy endings. Steve Berry has a couple out there that arn't too bad either.
Hope it helps

I hate the twilight books. Haven't read 'em, and I'm probably not being fair to them, but I read a story about a vampire last summer and it was a girl and the most turgid excuse for a story ever written.
I really recommend the Bill Bryson books, if you haven't read them yet.
And I just finished "Green River Rising" by Tim Willocks. The language was first class, and the plot is great.
