first you need a program called cain and abel
http://www.oxid.it/cain.html
install it then open it
go over to the cracker tab
select lm +ntlm hashes
then hit the blue cross at the top
press next
a list of all the local users will appear
go to dictionary attack
select ntlm hashes
click start
if that does not work try brute force attack
on the ntlm hash
lower the max length to about 10 or else it will take forever
good luck

Thanks for this link. But now I don't have a password list. Please assist

Hey, deathlord. How long does a brute for attack usually take, for 10 characters?
deathlord888
December 5th, 2008, 10:35 AM
it depends
usually under 5 minutes
but it can take up to 1000000 years
Xon
December 5th, 2008, 10:54 AM
Yeah, and on 5 year old computers, I am sure it will. Thanks
deathlord888
December 5th, 2008, 11:21 AM
it depends if hsi password is abcdefghij it will not take long but if it is
A4#5d>,D4$ it will
Xon
December 5th, 2008, 11:22 AM
yeah, it is like service1 or something like that. I can't remember it. Thats why I want to break it.

i get two kinds of results, one with a key and one with a X. and none of them worked in the dictionary attack. brute forcing them now :p

I get a message, "NtCreateThreadEx:0 Failed" I tried Google but didn't get anything that I could make sense out of on there. Any ideas?

wat would u use this program for?

If you don't know what you would use it for, then you won't be able to get the hashes anyways.

windows hashes are(used to be?) stored in the SAM file. XP had the possibility of having either LM hashes or NT hashes (LM being the weaker of the two). Not sure what Vista uses, but I'm sure its fairly similar to an NT hash.
And as for your error:
NtCreateThreadEx:0 Failed
It's an error thrown by the Windows API method to create a new OS thread. It can be used for a few things, code injection being one of them. Not really sure why it's throwing that error at you. What were you doing?

January 5th, 2009, 08:32 PM
Ishkur: Nothing, I just was following the tutorial step-by-step. Loaded it up and it threw that at me. I've fiddled around a bit but it gives me that error in quite a few other places as well.

sorry if this may sound noobish, cuz I am noobish..but when I DL it, it sys there's a threat, but i didn't care abotu that cuz of course this is a "threat". And when I started Cain, my IE closed and Firefox closed..which is kinda weird

I already made a thread for this explaining it in detail a long ass time ago...
EDIT*
NVM, I think it was on a different forum or something. lol.
I remember making a full tutorial on it somewhere. =/

there are fucking TONS AND TONS of tuts on the almost exact same thing, i figured i would just write one to stop all the damn threads

yeah cain and able works wonders. NT/LM hash cracking from the SAM with it is good. Also SAM inside works great, plus you don't even have to install it. Not to meantion for the fastest way, i use oph crack because it has built in rainbowtables instead of running the hashes against a word list or dictionary. All 3 of them=win.

My ten year old computer says " Hey! I don't know what computers you've been hanging around with, but the brute force program Truant set up ran 10 characters in 8 minutes! "

learn to program well like spend a year on it then you will have learned a lot about hacking as well

The first thing you'll realize about programmers, is that they're smart. The second thing you'll realize, they use proper grammar and spelling. The third thing you might realize, in general, is the thread that is stickied (placed at the top of the list), called Useful links. Go there, they might actually be useful.

how much times it takes to crack a pw depends all on your cpu.
Truant
July 12th, 2009, 10:05 PM
No, it depends on your computer.
merq
July 12th, 2009, 10:09 PM
Lst time i checked, your CPU is the core of your computer dumbass.
WOW -_-
btw CPU = PROCESSOR
the main fucking part of a computer.
deathlord888
July 12th, 2009, 10:13 PM
RAM also matters... so STFU CPU is not everything.
also it really depends on the password and what character set you are using that will be a massive difference in time...

Last time I checked, put a 3.2 GHz CPU in an old computer, very slow. Dumbass, the CPU makes the computer work, the rest of it makes it fast.
merq
July 13th, 2009, 01:34 AM
And I bet your 3.2 GHz CPU was a single core... some peice of shit pentium.
And no shit RAM matters every part matters on a computer thats what fucking makes it run. But the whole algorithm and cryptography processes have everything to do with the CPU. And "the rest of it makes it fast." deal.... I bet you dont even know what the term "bus speed" means so dont act like you know what your talking about.
If the pw is using some wierd as characters and you put that charset in a brute force it will still be the same speed it just will take longer because there is more to guess...

woah woah woah last time i checked we were talking about overall time not PW/s, let me check
how much times it takes to crack a pw depends all on your cpu.
yup yup we were talking about overall time. so dont try coming in here acting all pro when really you dont know fuck all now GTFO. but i will leave this up to the mod im done, just stop posting in my tutorials

You sound like a child when you say stop posting in my tutorials. It's like saying "Oh mr. mod he's touching me, make him stop." Holy shit dude.
And no you werent? You were talking about how long it will take depending on your computer.
If you have a slow computer it will take longer, if you have a fast computer then it will go faster!!! YAAAAYYYY!!!!
I hope that you understood that.

lol you are aware that i was hacking mod for a while? till i flooded the site and got my mod powers taken away... and i dont like retards saying incorrect shit in my tuts that is why i want you to stop. seriously grow up get some skills then come back. but i honestly dont think you understand how a bruteforce works...

July 13th, 2009, 02:32 AM
What part of what i said was incorrect? All brute force is is just trying every single possiblity until it gets it right. QQ

It was quad core.
Not really, the algorithms depend on the speed of the front-side bus speed, and the CPU speed, and the RAM speed. I do know you piece of shit. I work with that stuff, and designing them, all the time.
Your train of thought is on the wrong rail.

That's pretty arrogant considering the company you're in.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Considering who you are talking too, two great shots with guns, hackers, programmers, and computer designers, you are drowning due to stupidity.

Hey merq, did you know that I have a Brute force program that doesn't need a CPU.
Ha ha ha, fucking figure that one out.
Truant
July 15th, 2009, 09:48 PM
Did you wire it through the GPU? I can figure out low CPU, but no CPU?
Xon
July 15th, 2009, 10:00 PM
Well, now that I think about it, it must use the CPU to start and finish, I don't know about the exact running of it since I got most of the main files needed for it, but I assume that it uses the GPU for almost everything since the main program uses the Gfx RAM mem and the GPU. But then again like I said, I got a lot of the main GPU files from somewhere...

ok. so when i try either dictionary attack, or brute force, it says "Attack stopped! 0 of 0 hashes cracked" right when i push start. what do i do?

July 15th, 2009, 10:42 PM
you have to load a hash in.

July 15th, 2009, 10:46 PM
under Administrator, there is ASPNET... do i right click on that, or on administrator?
EDIT: nvm. sorry im a little slow with this. kinda new to this shit. figured it out though.

If you do that, then you can take power from the GPU with a slow CPU.

Yeah, but the point is, the GPU actually does the work once the program is loaded into it memory...
