those are shitty choices
i say fuck no it's not dead
"you can't kill the Metal"
Metal's still fucking awesome but it's evolved and cross bred itself into a near infinite amount of sub-genres
like you can't really definitely call one unique genre plain old Metal anymore
it's confusing
every band sounds slightly different [if they're any good]
so i didn't fucking vote.
but if i did, i would have wanted something along the lines of:
"No, but it's changed."

Just because they don't get mainstream airplay as much as they used to, doesn't mean it's dying. Ozzfest was full of people who last time I went, so that must mean it's still going strong.

You can't kill the metal
The metal will live on
Punk-Rock tried to kill the metal
But they failed, as they were smite to the ground
New-wave tried to kill the metal
But they failed, as they were stricken down to the ground
Grunge tried to kill the metal Ha,hahahahaha
They failed, as they were thrown to the ground
No-one can destroy the metal
The metal will strike you down with a vicious blow
We are the vanquished foes of the metal
We tried to win for why we do not know
New-wave tried to destroy the metal, but the metal had its way
Grunge then tried to dethrone the metal, but metal was in the way
Punk-rock tried to destroy the metal, but metal was much too strong
Techno tried to defile the metal, but techno was proven wrong
Yea!
Metal!
It comes from hell!

she is beeing slowly poisoned and dying by "so-called" metal bands like trivium bmfv sonic syndicate limp biscuit (i know it's bizkit) and stuff like that (no offense to fans of the above bands that's just MO).The only thing that preserves metal is the metal legends that are still alive.if legendary bands split up like metallica iron maiden etc and nu metal takes over (except for slipknot :D)then i am afraid metal will die :( BUT AS TENACIOUS D SAYS "YOU CANT'T KILL THE METAL"...nuff' said

First off, why did you necro-post? you son of a bitch.
Second, fuck you, bands like Trivium, BFMV, Disturbed, SlipKnoT, etc. are keeping Metal alive. Limp Bizkit, KoRn, etc. are considered Nu-Metal and they aren't the ones raping the genre either.
If anything be pissed at shit-ass bands like MCR, Paramore, mainstream bullshit that don't deserve the electric guitars they use... Fuck mainstream sell outs.
Admittedly, Metallica is pretty much as sold out as they come, but you have to remember the classics, and look at the good, not the bad. But when we still have bands like HELLYEAH, Lamb of God, Disturbed, fuck, even SlipKnoT and yes, BFMV, Metal cannot die... it's changing, but not dead.
The old sounds are still there, but they have a new ingredient, a new flavor, a little bit of new millennium ass kicking and mainstream fueled hatred to add to the noise.
that's my 2 cents

it can be argued that it's a few weeks, but yeah months count too, lol.

lol, i don't want to make an enemy of you because you seem like a pretty cool guy... nice sig quote.
But i'm saying those shitty mainstream bands like MCR and gay suck attention away from real darker music, people look at that shit and can't tell the difference between goth, emo, hardcore, and metal.
I'm saying those gay ass bands don't deserve to live lol and the fact they wear black gives good music a bad image. but fuck it, im not making sense to even myself anymore.
IN SHORT:
Metal fucking rules all
everything else can suck a dick
my bad for seeming like an asshole
and btw, you can express your opinion, but 4/5 people here will ridicule it, lol.
not that i disagree with it necessarily, but there you go
long live the Metal |m/

Metal is fully alive right now, but i have a feeling that when the 70's and 80's bands start dying off that there will be a bit less social attention, but metal stays true in all our hearts and will live forever. I havnt been to a concert yet but later in university im going to try and take a trip to Wacken:D

Yeah, St. Anger was pretty much shit. I hate to say that but that was really the only CD I didn't like by them. I did like one song off of that album, but I can't remember it because I never listen to that CD.
But no, metal far from dead.

I never really liked Metallica anyway. Or Dio, iron maden/pink steel, megadeth and so on.
Yeah afcourse i played some of their songs back in the day. But to be honest i hate everyone of those bands. Black sabbath was ok.
Iron monkey, Grief, Loinen, Eyehategod and so on were actually the kind of bands that i consider to be worth for me to see or listen to.
I like local bands a lot. I use the genre metal very loosely. Everyone knows that you can say that you listen to heavy music or metal and still be listening to iron maiden from your iPod living an empty life of a douche.
Metal means to me mostly hanging with fucked up people - scaring other people and having fun, drinking myself to death.
I think Schnauzer could beat metallica anyday.
http://www.myspace.com/pureschnauzer
As a kid they shove up your face all this artist that have nothing to offer for you as an individual and have nothing to do with your life or your enviorment. Eminen- A white guy singing about shit i don`t give a fuck in a style that i find worth attacking a country for.
Metallica- Kind of cool and kind of i don`t really care for kind of stuff.
All the pop that corporal asses get a chance to shit out.
Metal music is great for me, because metal can bring out of the sound what i like to hear- Lyrics and so on can be made to apply to diffrent growds.
So i ment to say - Metal is alive. Just remember to go to the shows and not drool watching their youTube videos.

Dying, But Not Dead Yet. It's hard to find a fucking classic with all the newbs fucking everythign up to make money. BTW, Does Underoath count as metal? I hate when I upload loud stuff to my computer like that and Devil Wears Prada, and they say the genre is "gospel" Where the hell does that come from?

metal is far from dying, while it may not be as strong as it used to be, and is diluted compared to the past, there are still bands out there keeping true to the old school metal sound and following the metal handbook step-by-step. my band is proof of this, we're trying to bring back the old sabbath sound. and thats what i believe metal should be.

well in terms of fans, its not even close to dying. in fact, i think its coming close to becoming popular again.
however, in terms of good music being made, it is dying, but not dead yet. the best bands still active today had their prime in the 80s (e.g. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica) and there are no new good bands.
