it shows how people think every military issued weapon is fully automatic
and they take the parts of a hunting semi auto and put it in a tactical stock to show you the difference

I would never have guess aye you could hand me both and I couldn't tell the difference unless I fired it or opened it up.

idk i grew up around all sorts of guns and alot of them being military guns like sks ak47 m1 grand, i have shot um all, and in alot of guns there isnt that much of a dif. in the full auto and the semi.... like i know that my cobal m11 there is only one peice of metal that keeps it in semi, i have heard you can drem*** part of it down but its known to just keep shooting weather you hold the trigger in or not......
sorry for the rant
deathlord888

I'd prefer the choice to be able change between semi automatic, burst and fully automatic

It's about differing between assault and semi auto.

1. Nice title for your post. Too bad it's spelled "Assault weapons"
2. The story "is'nt" about being an leo and doing what you want...! This is called a FORUM, it means people raise topics and discuss them. In this particular case we were discussing the misdeeds of a pig after the topic that was raised, assault vs semi, led to it.
3. You are clearly a cop. I recommend you gtfo.

2. It's "you're an ass", "your" is possessive and I do not possess a "an ass"
3. You aren't drunk or high, and you aren't entitled to shit.
4. I didn't say shit about posts, but now that you bring it up...
5. Fuck off pig.

You sound like the cop here..!
I'm impressed you can count to 5.

Yeah...In the video, the educator talks about the similarities between hunting rifles and semi automatic "assault" weapons being the firing mechanisms and (often) similar rounds used, but they overlook the fact that differences can cause problems or make a weapon more dangerous than it needs to be for hunting or target purposes, etc. The foldable stock on the second firearm (the one he put the action into) would give it a carbine length, thus making it considered "concealable" in Canada. Thats the big thing here as far as illegal firearms go...not sure about you Americans there though.
So...what I'm trying to say after all this is...they're kinda misleading the people who are gonna be watching this since they went and made it into an illegal weapon anyway.
...and what's wrong with cops? =S

um theres no concealable rifles law in canada , the barrel has to be 18 inches or more and the whole rifle has to be 26 inches or more , any less and its RESTRICTED not Prohibited , which means you cant take it anywhere but the range and you need an Authorization To Transport form to do so, also means if you get caught with it your fucked (5 years minimum i think for unreg Restricted) you also need a RPAL license and a membership to a shooting range to prove you have legitimate use for it.

Correction on the wording choice of "illegal." I mean't that is the big issue concerning the legality and classing of firearms here. Note that I also didn't once say carbines were prohibited.
As for not concealable...What purpose is served in a criminal way by shortening the length of a weapon? Think about that for 30 seconds before you say that concealability has nothing to do with why certain firearms are restricted, etc. This rule applies to all handguns in Canada. Why? You guessed it...they're easily concealable.
marcraft
March 2nd, 2009, 01:32 AM
handguns have their legislation because they 'look scary' . looks are the primary factor in the legality of firearms in canada, just take a look (yea yea repetitive use of the word 'look' makes me sound stupid) at the restricted firearms list, they all 'look' like military weapons. and your right in the fact that concealability has something to do with it i guess, but if that was it then why is the mag cap on handguns 10 and the magcap on semi-auto rifles and shotguns 5? and the No loaded weapons in just about ANY cities limits (besides things like the problem goose hunting in winnipeg) make it illegal to carry anything on the street or in your vehicle (all firearms have to be unloaded locked and hidden from view in a vehicle) i think we can all agree that canada just plain has stupid weapon laws and be done with it, ehh?
Chiri
March 2nd, 2009, 05:31 PM
Dear god you butcher this man. Oh, and I'll never be done with this! I was just wondering and looking for your opinion. If concealability isn't the determining factor for handguns and carbines/sawed off weapons, what's the point of restricting shorter firearms? They're so uber efficient and accurate due to their non factory shitty sawed off barrels?
No, looking scary doesn't have anything to do with it either, or we wouldn't be able to own the AK lookalikes, a bunch of modified .223 rifles, or various other things that most people consider "scary looking."
If you can't figure out why people aren't generally allowed to use semi-autos with a higher magazine capacity than 5...please look at the title of this thread? That stock conversion in the video works both ways. I can make an otherwise regular, semi automatic hunting rifle into an effective assault weapon if I were able to use a 30 round magazine. Yes, semi auto is that dangerous. If you're a kiddo who needs a comparison, all of the shooting you do over 75-100 meters is done on semi auto in the military, and a lot of times, you use double tap for ranges shorter than that (also semi automatic). You don't need a fully automatic weapon to be a dangerous problem. Figuring out why they control the amount of rounds available to a civilian weapon shouldn't take too much brainpower.
Yeah, you usually can't have a loaded firearm inside city limits...what are you getting at? =S
Dracus124
March 21st, 2009, 10:38 PM
ya you can easily file down a peice on 98% of semi auto's to make them fully
but they all have a small clip so it is pointless
and with full auto you miss on the first you just wasted a bunch of rounds
You can make your own clips if you know what you're doing, shit, all that a clip is in most guns its a spring and piston that forces the bullets in the firing chamber after the shell is spit out.
and what do you mean you miss on the first shot and waste a bunch of bullets?
That happens only if you're untrained.
Count Chocula
March 21st, 2009, 10:42 PM
A "clip" is not a box with a spring and a follower. The mag lips have to feed the bolt perfectly, you have to angle it perfectly with the feed ramp, engage the mag release, and make sure the follower doesn't break the bolt.

I meant to say magazine. Soz
And I meant to say you can make the clip longer out of an existing one. I personally never done this, But I have seen homemade ones that are effective. It can't be hard to do if you have the right tools, parts, materials ect. ect. and if you know what you're doing of course.

even though i can agree fully on this why would they be so worried about full auto? sure you could spray and pray with full auto, but with semi auto, chances are that they would actually take a bit more time aiming and more likely to hit their target better. but i guess there is more a sort of collateral damage to take into account with a full auto because it could hurt alot more people.
anyway im sick of this media overhyping about gun related incidents. sure the guns kill the people but its the guy that owns the gun who aimed it, and shot it. god a hammer could be just as dangerous, its just the person behind the weapon.
