there are many theries to the universe, some seem a little wacked out, but others seem a little more reasonable, so far the two that have peaked my interest is the 4d and the E8. what do you guys think the universe is?

I believe the universe is soo vastly huge, soo big that it never ends. People think up theorys to explain how something this big this significant came to exist, i believe the universe is just one of those mysterys that will continue to be a mystery. Its ironic that humans try to measure the distance of the universe. Or try to measure the time it has existed. We create theorys trying to explain the unexplainable. And it is my belief that no theory that exist here on earth is even close to unravelling the mystery of how the universe came to be. I think the truth to such a question is simply beyond our level of intelligence. That such knowledge would probally unravel our mind. You see most famous philosophers who have spent there entire life theorizing about theorys of existence and there mind becomes altered. It damages there sanity to attempt to explain these things that are simply beyond there ability to explain. Our whole framework would collapse trying to explain the unexplainable. We can theorize all we want. There is no answer to the universe. It simply is.

i agree that its something that we will never understand. and that most people refuse to except the fact that any thing but numbers are infinite. but some of the theroys out there are very interesting, if you have the time take a look at the 4d theroy its pretty interesting

The Universe expands and shrinks, then go's boom and repeats it self

yea i have heard that but the my problem with that thery is whats outside of the stuff thats shrinking and expanding?

You cant possibly imagine whats outside of whats shrinking and expanding.

It is simply beyind your level of intelligence. Your mind would either spit the info back out, or it would lose its stability and simply collapse.
But that is another theory :D

string theory

string theory?
Never heard of it. I support the theory that all theorys are wrong.
I contradict myself :D

Really? You never have heard of string theory???
Personally I think we need to rewrite the laws of physics because either something can always exist or something can be created from nothing.
I'm going with a flat universe here, possibly open but I do not really agree with closed.

flat huh...get rid of your physical earthbound mentality and remember that the universe isnt bound to the same laws that exist here on earth. In the endless space of the universe there is no down, no up, time holds no meaning there.

I'm not talking about 2 dimensional, though that is a complex but cool theory, I'm saying that the universe expands infinitely but the rate at which slows down. At a certain point the total growth approaches zero but never will. It has a limit of zero.
The two dimension idea has to to with warping of spacetime to make it appear as if there are more dimensions than there really are, but that there is just a plane, length and with, of spacetime.

no i understand the expanding and shrinking idea i just cant buy into it, because i picture the universe as like a rubberband it can expand and shrink but whats outside of the rubberband??? theres gotta be more universe, i think the expanding and contrasting idea is maybe a way to explain a ..... ahhh im not sure there is a word for it if there is i dont know it.... so a group of planets circling a sun is a solarsystem and a bunch of solar systems make up a galaxy, but what if our galixy is just a small thing circleing another big thing?????

Thats the whole conundrum about the universe. Because if it is infinitely expanding we will never know because according to the three theories the universe is still expanding nearly at the speed of light so it will take another 100 trillion years for it to slow down remotely near enough for us to find out. Unless we figure out how to go faster than the speed of light.

ever expanding...hmm. What do you think lay beyond the universe. There is all possibility that our whole universe is nothing more than a dustball on a windowsill. That we are really insignificant compared to the whole picture, Nothing but sputtering out moths. that leave no imprint upon the earth. We will dissapear, humanity will be removed and another species of life will spring up and once again dominate the earth. The cycle of life. People fear armagedon thinking angels are gonna rain from the sky, a natural calamity that will engulf the whole world, and all trace of humans ever existing will be washed away. And if another species does come to inhabit the earth once more they will find ancient remnants of a long lost civilization...and that my friends is all too possible.

i mean another thought that is kinda a little bit stretched out but you guys remember the end of MIB where our whole universe is just marble in the bag, i mean think about an ant, its entire universe is nothing more then a few yards in each direction, there is a thousands of miles to go around the earth that it will never have any grasp of... we could be the ant

Hmm. Or our whole universe could be a grain of sand in a infinite sea of stars. There is no way to know such a thing. Such knowledge is simply beyond our grasp. I think the only time we will ever truly udnerstand anything about everything, is when we die. That will be when the universe is revealed to us. Most likely we already know the truth of all creation its just hidden under layer upon layer of earthbound mentality. So the truth isnt "Out there" it is in us. The truth of this whole existence is instead inside all of us. hmmm...

This will be one of the things discovered in a million years. It is sad that we can not venture to such a place where the end is. If the universe is expanding it has to be expanding into something.

or out of something.

well i think we have to take everything we "KNOW" about physics and throw it out the window, then we will start to get somewhere in the discovery of the universe

Yes tech now we do agree. For us to start to undestand the universe we first have to throw all our previous theorys an laws of existence out the window, start afresh with nothing more than a tree. Yes a tree. If we sit in front of a tree for 1 year i think we will have come further than we are now.

it is the greatest of theoretical physicists that know that this is the truth. May I remind everyone to be fluid in their beliefs for this is the only way we will advance.

Where in imagination lies true knowledge. For imagination has no boundaries, and neither does the extent of existence.

Everything that has ever been created has been created by an individual, an individual using his/her imagination. So once again i agree that imagination has no true boudarys. What people once said was impossble is now possible, because the indivdual broke out of the confines of impossible and created "with his/her imagination" possiblitys out of the impossible. So truth is, with imagination, nothing is impossible.
