View Full Version : best way to whittle down humanity

i think it would be an ice age. the cold and lack of ability to farm would make humanity primarly hunters. that and their would be new desease due to the fact that we would be living in more cramped inviornments due to the fact of cold. some of us would no be able to hunt due to the fact of obesity, medical conditions or because of the damn pacifists and hippies (no issues with pacifists).

to sum it up
some would die because of lack of adeptability, against killing, or sickleness. thus only leaving the strongest, most adaptable warriors.

(i got this after reading the 10 page thread on captivity, and i cannt beleave numerator shot at everybody until his rifle jammed on guts over a plastic award)

yes that was an ugly night.......but i'm gonna say a war that incorporates all the choices......like a global war while the ice age begins (plague being bio warfare)..........that would do it.

I know it's not an option, but I'd say that we should herd all the idiots, fucktards, diseased, and invalids to africa, and then bomb the continent to hell. There's nothing to see in africa anyways. :D

Out of the list though I would choose a plague. All the dregs of society prefer to hang out in groups, so it would spread like wildfire. Only problem with a plague is that there's a chance that it would infect those people that are beneficial to have in a community. For example: doctors, engineers, scientists, etc.

the smartest will find a way to protect themselves from the plague

that may be true, but the rest will die. Does that mean the world will be inhabited by only the most intelligent humanity has to offer? If so, humanity needs a plague. It's been awhile anyways and we would be lucky to go much longer without something popping up. i'm guessing influenza or modified smallpox.

(If i remember correctly, there is a pretty old thread on this site about low security in biological weapons strage sites which referenced the smallpox.)

i'ld say a plague coz if it was nasty enuff and spread quickly enuff it would'nt care how rich/powerfull you where.
It could give us a chance to start again with everyone as equals 2start. With only the cleverest rising to power not just those born into the right family's.

yea but an ice age would also get rid of unfit animals like cold blooded animalsand some would die off due to the fact. the waters would freeze up somewhat, and thus eliminating fishing for the most part.

Here are my thoughts on each choice:

§ Ice Age -- This could be a possible way to thin out the undesirables of humanity; However, the neanderthals survived the last Ice Age, so I don't think it would be very effective. Furthermore, it would take many thousands of years for an Ice Age to reach the size required to do any significant damage to the world ecosystem. Also, there are a myriad of climate changes that have to take place in order for an Ice Age to even be possible. So this would not be a valid means to thin out the population.

§ Nuclear Winter -- I separated this from "Ice Age" because it is an entirely different scenario, and is actually a hypothetical effect of a world wide nuclear war, or the impact of a large deep-space object. It is possible, but highly improbable that we will ever have a world wide nuclear war. First off, nuclear weapons have, for the most part, become nothing more than a national status symbol because only the most powerful nations have nuclear weapons. Also, it is highly unlikely that nuclear weapons will ever be used in an act of war because it would mean the destruction of all parties involved.

§ Plague -- Of the given choices, this is the most probable means of thinning out humanity. Throughout history there have been countless outbreaks of all manner of horrible disease, and given the right conditions a disease could reach a mortality rate of more that 70% of humanity. There are thought to be hundreds if not thousands of diseases in the rain forest that no modern human has ever come in contact with, and seeing as these are unknown pathogens this would mean that our bodies would have no defences against the disease. Also, diseases continually mutate into new more deadly stands, and can reach a point at which the disease will be resistant to all forms of antimicrobial medicines. This would be a very effect way of thinning out humanity--maybe too effective.

§ Neutron Bomb -- This is not a good choice because this has long lasting after effects that would cause future generations to suffer. The only purpose of a neutron bomb is to release all it's contained energy in the form of radiation. If a neutron bomb was used it would be thousands of years before anything would be able to live in the effected area with out succumbing to radiation poisoning. The harm of this choice far outweighs the benefit, so it would be an ill advised choice.

§ War -- This sounds like a valid choice, but the problem with war is that it has no conscience; in war everything and everyone is fair game. Now I will admit some of the wars over the years have been necessary, but for the most part many of these could have been avoided. The only good reason for war is a fight against oppression, and even then the war does more harm than good.

My choice was a Plague because as numerator said, the intelligentsia will find a way to survive.

a deo et rege made some very good points. and i think exploding vipers original post wasnt exactly acurate. Just because humanity dies down does not mean we will devolve to beasts and animals, i think if anything that would bring the survivers closer, and here is why, the ones who survive are eather smart or lucky, and the smart ones will know that they have a better chance of survivle in a group then as individuals. and the odds of absolutly every thing else dieing off other than humans is slim to nun. and if that was the case then the human race will aslo parish.

I disagree. With all of those options, the intelligent will still find a way to survive and prosper. Any of those option will work to whittle down humanity.

(Though it doesn't take a genius to realize that the plague would be more effective just because of the high mortality rate.)

personally i think the best way to get rid of humanity is get rid of authority. without someone regulating what we need done, no one would do anything. to get food theyd kill annd steal, people wouldnt be able to have a house because someone without one would just kill you and take it. no one would bother making food cause someone would just steal that. and thered be no one to stop them. sure a few people may say wait a second this sucks and try to stop it but theres so many fucked up people in the world it wouldnt matter. without any authority the people would not be able to band together and stop it. no one would be able to stop the hell that is human nature.
EDIT: by authority i mean anyone that would create some kind of order or stop or even try to stop what the people would be doing.

Well if you guys actually pay attention to geology and historical patterns, we are overdue for some pretty fucked up stuff. Giant earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, and much more.

My favorite though what happens around the time of 12/21/2012 (yes the Mayan "doomsday"). This day is suppose to be the day that the magnetic field flips (right now the magnetic south pole is located in Canada while the magnetic north pole is in Antarctica). So this flip will mean that the magnetic north pole will be in Canada and the magnetic south pole will be in Antarctica. In the up coming to this event the field weakens, earth warms, storms, and so forth. When it does happen there will be a giant EMP. And at one point the field completely drops, not for long, and if there is a solar flare then are planet will look like mars. Once the field is reestablished there will be fires, because of the EMP (people not unplugging things), planes will fall from the sky, and no one knows which way is north.
Did i mention that this is likely to cause mass hysteria which will cause many to kill another?

Magnetic flip = bullshit

A magnetic field flip would take thousands of years, and wouldn't just "suddenly" happen. We would see it coming, and we would find a way to deal with it. It happens GENERALLY, not out of nowhere. -_-

Ok dipshit. Total magnetic flip is not going to happen in our lifetime. Unless you live for another thousand years

They have fluctated, not exactly reversed. I think they said it was just slightly weaker. That was 4-5 years ago too. Could've been a temporary thing etc.

I picked a neutron bomb because if theres a war with that shit, then that will be way worse than a nuclear war. But im probably wrong and gonna get flamed up the ass because i dont really know what a neutron bomb is, just something that blows shit up better than anything we have right now and I dont feel like looking it up right now. If not that, then plague depending on the type of plague, like the black plague reborn, we can handle. But some crazy ass virus made in a goverment lab (stephen king's The Stand) would pretty much have the same outcome as the book. If ure too dumb to read, they made a movie but i havent seen it.

ya about the magnetic flip it is a theory. And that was just what the Mayan evidence pointed to. And there was a test, which you can look up, in which a guy plugged all the information about earth's EMF and had it run a simulation and it did the exact same thing, which is the reason that the flip is a theory. This is just as possible as us going into a nuclear winter tomorrow.
Do you think i really believe that if we don't find all the crystal skulls Quetzacotal is going to come down and destroy us all?
Don't take hypothetical situations seriously

I have to go with the neutron bomb, because I love Repo Man. It's one of the best movies out there in my opinion. But yeah plague would probably be more effective and leave only the cunning to survive.

Eh, I voted Ice Age because (like everyone else said) it leaves only the fittest and best of humanity left.

I'd like to really go against a plague because as soon as it's cured, who ever discovered (or created) the cure is the person with the power. This of course would most likely be abused fairly quickly.

I'd also like to be against the use of war as a way to thin the masses, mainly for the reason above. The last country or civilization alive rules over the rest of the world just because they had the biggest gun.

itismesaj
September 20th, 2008, 06:15 PM
In any one of these scenarios, it's survival of the fittest. So, war is the best bet. It has always thinned the population, and it always will.

Plague effects pretty much whoever the fuck comes into contact with it. It only doesn't effect those who have a far greater immune system than the others.
Ice age also doesn't effect the Mexicans much, because they are by the tropics, unless we are talking global, which the way out would cause a lot more deaths.
Neutron bombs have a smaller but more powerful explosion than thermonuclear, which is meant to kill by radiation.
And war just everyone gets fucked over except for the political elite who are causing the war to make the rich become richer and the poor dead. Like right now most of the Elite class have stock in oil companies. do you think they want you to go to electric vehicles?

The best and probably easiest way to totally wipe out humanity is to slowly make them dumber and dumber by promoting stupidity as cool and dysgenics will slowly wear away any intelligence. Then make them heavily reliant on others to do stuff for them and make them needy on someone to do all the work for them. After awhile you take away any help they had whether it be by plague, war, nukes, etc. They won't know how to take care of themselves and would be utterly annihiliated. The few individuals who were smart wouldn't matter because they wouldn't be around in sufficient numbers to repopulate the planet so eventually humanity would be extinct. Any other way if you leave around intelligent minds it is pretty hard kill us off.

People have already survived an ice age and we're still here. So obviously that won't kill us because humans will just go nomadic like the original cavemen who went around in the last ice age. That may take out civilazation for awhile but not wipe humanity out and it would only last until the ice ***ted again then civilazation would sprout back up. And by the way dinosaurs did not live in an ice age era. They lived during a heating trend and hot environments because they were reptilian.
