Ok so me and my friend were just chilling at his house and we started talking about our reality that we live in. We came up with some of the craziest stuff ever lol. Its a little bit like the simulated reality thing but not quite. You'll see.

Matter:
Look around you. Right now in the room all of the object are illusions. Like, what if ONLY what you touch is real and everything else is an illusion. Right under the floor there is nothing but black. Its just a thin piece of matter with the texture of a "real" floor. And only what you touch is tangible. If you were quick enough, you could stick your hand right through a table...but your not so you cant.

Traveling:
Imagine that your walking down to your friend's house. Your walking on the side walk and you passing houses, fences, street lights, etc...Well your just walking in place. All your doing is just walking in place while the scenery changes around you. No place actually exists unless you visit it.

Vision/Illusion:
What you see in front of you is the only thing that is visible. When you turn around, you can see whats in front of you but behind you there is nothing but a black abyss. You could be talking to somebody and they could tell you whats behind you and you could do the same for them but you cant see for yourself. Color too. How do we know that colors are real? Dogs see in black and white and to them, that seems real. Why is it different for humans? Just because we are intelligent and we can see a variety of colors doesn't mean we are right. Maybe there are no True colors.

Your Limits:
If you look at the environment around you it looks like everything exists but not really. The the room thats around you is the only place that exists. Behind your wall there is nothing but the black abyss. If you look out the window, you assume that you are seeing outside but really your just looking at a wall with the image of the things outside to fool you into thinking that there is actually something behind the glass. You may think that when your outside that you are actually out but not quite. Instead of walls, It is your sight that blocks you. Just because you cant see a solid wall doesn't mean there isn't one. And so your still trapped.

Everyone Else:
Surly this reality cant be true for everyone else if the world is revolving around you. Maybe everyone is just a "clone" or "program" (trying not to refer to The Matrix.) But what if your the only "real" person and everyone else is a programmed clone meant to interact with you like an experiment. So your an experiment put in this simulated reality and somewhere superior beings are just watching to see how we interact with our world. Or maybe theres a world for everyone and we are just clones in other worlds only being an individual in one. Or maybe there are all these worlds or "experiments" and one with all of use are real. Maybe I am the only real person in this world typing this. Or maybe your the only real person and i was just programmed to type this and I have no free thought.

So I dunno, We stayed up all night and we were pretty tired when we started talking about this. But anyway, Thats just one of the things we came up with lol.

how do you know your not some crazy person in a mental institution yelling and ranting about people youve never really met and things that dont really exist.

also what about the notion that its only real because you KNOW it's real, KNOW not believe. take gravity for example, you stay bound to the earth because as far as you know there is nothing else that could possibly contradict the laws of physics that bind you here. if you saw someone drop a rock and it mysteriously floated up and away it would completely change everything you KNOW about existence

Einstein said that if he never saw a gas stove before and he walked up and saw water in a pan steaming he would be amazed however if their were two pans and only one was steaming then he would conclude that it was the fire that made it steam. however he would still be amazed if he saw no difference in the two pans until he found a logical reason for the steam. if a rock just flew up my knowledge of physic would not be in question i would just try and find the magnet.
color is a wave very real we can not see inferred and yet it is still a color its not that we can see it with our eye but we know its their trough observation.

and technically matter is not really their your keyboard at its atoms are mostly empty space with neutrons and electrons orbiting each other.

by your logic you can climb a house but your not in the air your just seeing a different perspective so if you do a swan dive down you would be just fine because your just seeing a different perspective. i promise you if you try it and believe that the image is just an image and you haven't moved your still going to bust your head

Yeah well its just a thought =P lol, i never completely thought it through either. Just randomly came up with it lol

Its just a thin piece of matter with the texture of a "real" floor. And only what you touch is tangible. If you were quick enough, you could stick your hand right through a table...but your not so you cant.

By this logic you yourself are an illusion that is assuming that there is more than one person in this reality because if "only what you touch is real" then someone would have to touch you in order for you to be real.

Traveling:
Imagine that your walking down to your friend's house. Your walking on the side walk and you passing houses, fences, street lights, etc...Well your just walking in place. All your doing is just walking in place while the scenery changes around you. No place actually exists unless you visit it.

Same thing as before, by your logic the place in which you preside does not exist because it has not yet been visited by another person. However, if everyone is confined to there own separate realities then it could by your logic be possible, but that alone is highly improbable.

The first part of the scenario could be solved by the use of a mirror because then you could both what is in front of you and what is behind you. The second is easily explained; we have three different cone types, a trichromat, while dogs have two, a dichromat. Each cone contains a photopigment that is maximally sensitive to a separate wavelength of light. These photopigments are what makes color vision possible. Also, the true color of an object is anything but the color you see; think about that.

You should seriously go get a check up from the neck up.....:D

Your logic in this scenario is also flawed; when you said that the only place that exists is the room in which you preside you made it impossible for you to ever leave your room because you cannot travel to a place that doesn't exists, so the rest of the house that contains the room does not exists; therefore, your entire reality consist of only your room. If you tried to leave your room when you walk out the door you would simultaneously walk back into the room.

Again, you cannot predict the future, so as soon as any of the human occupants of these worlds performed an action not programed into the system it would crash bringing an end to the "experiment."

I think there is actually an interesting point you bring up. When I see "Blue", how do I not know that your "blue" is different than my "blue"? For instance when I see my "blue" I may actually be seeing your red.

But you just associate the name "blue" with that particuliar color, and assume everyone sees as you do. It is quite possible that people see completely different colors under the same names, and they are all still able to identify them because that's how they grew up calling them those names.

I'm trying to say that if two different people looked at color X, one person could see color P, while the other person could see color Q but they would both call it the same thing, and both would assume they saw the same color.

Interesting eh?

Somewhat interesting, but that's not how the human eye works; the human eye contains three types of cones, as stated in my previous post, and each of these three types of cones are sensitive to a different wavelength of light. Everyone has these three types of cones, but if your eye is damaged in someway thus damaging the cones you would only be able to see part of the light spectrum, so certain colors would look different to you. However, everyone else would see the same color, and it's not because they were taught that way, but because it is that way-- literally what you see is what you get. If two different people look at the same color and both come up with different answers as to what the color is then one of them has damaged cones in their eye.

True, but I was basing my scenario on the assumption that both of the individuals are honest people whose only goal is to produce viable results for the test.

ok. see thats something hard to accept. that we live in a illusionary world, and were 2 stupid too really know. If i came to accept the reality theory, my life would soon lose its relevance. i would start walking into walls for the hell of it. And eveyone around me would become nothing more than phantoms. Tricks of my imagination.

I just cant believe the illusion thing even though it is possible and i say "what if" things about crazy shit all the time. What is weird is that reality is just electric signals in your brain telling you about an object or enviroment. If some scientist could find some computer chip or something that can mimic those signals, they can make anything be "real"

and yeah i got that from the matrix too so i dont know if thats how ure brain works or not
