Ok im a noob when it comes to comp's an aint had 1 since i took me old shite one 2peaces to help make a growroom but im gettin a new 1soon an was wondering whats wrong with xp/vista and all things microsoft cos im forever hearing people say its shit but never why. also if vista and microsoft internet explore are crap what would you use instead an why? Well, I think XP sucks because it's very basic and old... Most people say they hate Vista because it's newer and not compatible with everyone's old shitty software/hardware. If you get Vista, make sure everything is new and it will most likely work just fine (as long as you don't get viruses). I think Vista is better for gaming too.

Usually people say Linux is better, but you just have to know how to use it just right though, I think it lasts longer than Microsoft™ would (assuming you do use it right). It also uses less resources than Windows computers, but since you say you're a "noob when it comes to computers" I don't think that would be all that great for you. (lol?)

I'd say get Vista though...

About that Internet Explorer thing... it's one of the least secure internet browsers and probably has the most security holes. I'd go with Opera browser if I were you. It's most secure.

Ok, well if you get XP good luck modding it.
I can't stand using XP (even though that's what I'm stuck with using, since my comp got fucked up). I've always had way more errors on XP then on Vista. The only thing I don't really like about Vista is that it uses up too much graphic memory. Other than that, I get a ton of shit and errors from XP.

Yh i was thinking of using opera coz ive just got the mini opera on me phone an its a lot better than the shite nokia use. Still not sure on vista so i'll probally use xp coz ive used it before

Yes and no I would get Linux if I were you.
Anything made by Microsoft is unstable and susceptible to anything bad on the internet. Linux is rock solid and very secure. Windows costs money to install, Linux is free. Internet Explorer is slow and not secure. The better browsers are Opera, Safari, Firefox and Netscape yes Netscape.

Mr. AlbertWesker is definitely right, anything Unix based is going to be a better OS than Windows which narrows your selection down to basically Mac and Linux and out of the two I'd choose Mac. Not that Linux isn't the best because it is in all perspectives and is even better than anything made currently by Apple, but learning Linux is like learning Swahili... what's the point if you're the only one within 200mi who speaks it :p ?

As far as web browsers go, I don't know about IE being less secure ( although it wouldn't surprise me) but it is for certain not as good of a browser. I am a web designer/coder and I know from personal experience that IE sucks at displaying pages correctly. Because microsoft cut so many corners making this product to put out a profit it doesn't always read code correctly, several times I have had to create extra style-sheets to accommodate IE.

Personally I recommend Firefox, in my opinion it is the best browser out there currently.

i'd say it's all down to personal preference but considering ur sort of new to computing i can't really say that. I personally like XP bassically just because it's what i'm used to and comfortable with using.

Xp is fuckin awesome since its way easier to mold
Vista isnt that great since it has lots of errors, requires a lot graphic memory and crashes with the stupidist reasons
