Ok so here is my problem.

I was tryin to reinstall XP on my computer, because I do it about once a year, and when I did it this time, this is what happened.

I have 2 hard drives in my computer a 40GB and a 20GB, with XP running off of the 20GB, anyway, I ran the disc and accidently reinstalled XP on my 40GB, so no big deal, I'll just format the 20 GB and then install it, well I formatted it, and then tried to install XP on Startup, but doing it this time, it copies all of the files over and then the computer turns off, and comoes back on, and goes through the same process of copying the files. I have tried to install XP on 3 different Hard Drives so far, and have tries installing it with each of the hard drives set at default and as master drives, and I can't get it to work, so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

And also getting another computer is not an option, as I am 15 and all of my money is going towards a truck.

Thanks in advance for all of the answers, I appreciate you guy's helping.

It doesn't matter anyway, because I ended up trying Linux and every Windows OS there is except for Vista (I fucking hate Vista), and none of them worked, so I sucked it up and just bought a new, and better computer from a pawn shop, he let me try it out before I used it, it's an Acer computer.

Specs:
Windows XP Media Center
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Processor
3.2 GB RAM (Only 32 Bit Computer)
nVidia Graphics Card (256 MB I think)
DVD-RW Drive
320 GB HDD
15 in 1 Card Reader (Or something like that, don't feel like looking.)
17" LCD Flatscreen Monitor

Not bad for $150, in my opinion anyway, whoever pawned it though must have been pretty desperate, but I'm not complaining.

Install Linux not Windows XP!

I'm probably going to keep XP since it is an actual legal copy of it (first legal copy of anything I have had in awhile), and if I ever need to install a new OS I'll install Ubuntu.

But I have never used Linux, how big of a change from Windows is it?

supposedly windows xp only supports 2 gigs of ram... now me saying something like that might sound odd but iv'e never really felt the need for more than 2 gigs...

It all depends on what kind of OS you have, if it is a 32 bit then you are allowed up to 3.2 GB of RAM, 64 bit, I honestly don't know, or so the legend goes.

And if it only supports 2 GB I am pissed at myself then, because when I go it it only had 2 GB in it, And I went on newegg.com and got another GB stick and a 256 MB stick I picked up at Wal-Mart (clearance rack). All in all it costed an additional $20 for th extra RAM, so if Windows doesn't support it, then I will most likely switch over to Linux, what version would you suggest?

Well, let's see Linux is more stable than XP, most software that goes with it is free, Linux is more immune to internet attacks such as viruses, trojans, fishing the like. Most web servers are Linux based.

Well, let's see Linux is more stable than XP, is free including most if not all linux based software that will be used on it, it is harder for viruses and the like to screw with than XP and several web servers use linux not XP.

Alright.

I'll install Linux whenever I feel like installing it.

Why not just install Linux on a different partition on your hard drive?? then you can have both at the same time! ^.^
BTW, I have XP media center edition and I hate it, lol. I'd rather have a different version if I was getting XP. =p

and yeah, Linux uses less resources than Windows OS, so it will use up a lot less memory too. I use both Linux and Windows though, cuz most games need DX9 or 10 to run right and linux doesn't support DirectX (which really the only thing I don't like about Linux), but it is still good. =D

That's a good idea, as dumb as it sounds I neer considered installing Linux on a seperate partition, I now know to do it, I just never really thought about doing it.

I'll be doing it later oday then.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.
