View Full Version : Soul Mate?

Do you believe that there is someone out there that you are destined to be with? That there is one and only one person that you are meant to spend the rest of your life with. I personally think that there is a specific person that is exactly right for everyone, in other words there is a person out there that without whom your life will not be complete. I think this because I have had quite a few friends who have went from one person to the next until they found one that wasn't like the others. They found a person that they truly enjoyed spending every waking moment with; I myself have yet to find such a person, but I still believe she is out there somewhere.......

I agree with what you have to say. However, I think we have more than one soul mate, or that if our soul mate dies, we will find another. I'm not sure, but I think that no matter what, there will always be a soul mate for us out there.

I think we all have soul mates. But in a certain way. Just because you're with someone for the rest of your life doesn't mean they're your soul mate, because some people are in the relationship for wrong reasons, they're not happy, etc. I think that if you're with someone who makes you truly happy and 'complete,' then they are your soul mate. But! Something may go wrong, you break up, and you can find someone else who also makes you feel happy and complete.

Yeah I agree with all you guys but I don't believe there is only one person out there for me. Everyone is different and there's probably a million people out there that a person would be compatible with to make them feel as if they're soul mates. But life takes so many twists and turns that I don't believe in soul mates. So I'ma just find me a nice girl with a cute personality and a sense of humor who makes me feel complete and who I can just be myself around and not have to worry.

I also believe that there are a myriad of possible soul mates, but I believe that you have one perfect soul mate, not that the others aren't possible soul mates, it's just that there is one, or so I think, that is the other piece of the puzzle that is your life. I think a person can have many meaningful relationships, and all of those can be possible soul mates, but there is one that once you find him or her that you will go to the ends of the earth to be with that person and viceversa. I hope to someday find that special someone, but I have yet to find such a person.

It's actually kind of weird to see how many people voted no. Well, IMO anyway. I'm sure some people think that it's insane that so many people voted yes. Lol.

I once believed in soul mates, but have come to believe that anyone can be your mate given the timing. "Love the one you with"

i think there are 2 soul mates per person,
a true best friend, whom you love as a brother/sister, etc.
and a true love, whom is the general stereotype of a soul mate.
if so i've won half the battle... waiting for that special girl...

It's not that there is NOT a person out there that's perfect for everyone. it's that the one that you think is the "perfect person" for you... probably doesn't like you and/or likes someone else, so it's pointless to think that that someone is your soulmate.

When I was with one girl I almost tricked myself into believing that there was such thing as a soul mate. Hahaha. I don't think very many gals would be able to handle me for long term relationships, let alone soul mate. Sure there could be one, and probably is. But the odds of me meeting them? and speaking the same language (things like that)? Prolly slim. Also, I don't believe in destiny/fate.
Come as a surprise? hahaha.

 We are, always looking for our other half, the half that God took from us, in members of the opposite sex. When we fall in love at first sight, then we have found someone that "fills" our anima or animus archetype particularly well!

Yes but you will never find them, so you should just kill yourself.

There are no soul mates because the theory of soul mates is that everyone has one. I have yet to find a person who enjoys rap and country music.

Sorry to break your fantasy, but soul mates do not exist. It's an archetype from literature.
You may meet someone, but it is souley based on chance, rather then some sort of magical predetermined plan.

it isn't magical...it is deterministic set forth from a chain of prior causes that ultimately lead to the "soul mate" which most likely exists somewhere, but the probability of her and you meeting, or speaking the same language etc. isn't the greatest. Which is why people settle for "good enough"

So...it's just by chance. And if these "soul mates" do somehow meet, then they just have compatible personalities and physical preferences. I can't help but look at this whole thing in a logical realistic way.

right, you can't really prove you have a soul mate(s), you just postulate it, it is I think likely, but meeting them is a different story.

Oh, I'm sure there is a near perfect match out there for me. But that is because we have compatible personalities and physical preferences. As you stated, finding this person is highly improbable.
