OPHcrack LiveCD help.
So, I hear a lot of people having problems with this. So, after asking how to use it myself, I finally figured it out, all it takes is a little poking around...

Incase you don't know what OPHcrack is, or where to get it... it's a program that you put on a disk to help you crack the administrator (or anyone else's) password on a Windows computer. to get the program, click the following link --->
http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/

It's an .ISO file so it will take a while, then use an image mounting program to burn the .ISO to disk (look up: Sonic, Daemon tools, MagicISO, etc...). put the disk in, and reboot the computer, it should run on it's own.

If it doesn't run on it's own and you still can't figure out how, when your computer is first starting up go to startup menu (usually, you have to press F1 key to go to startup menu) and it should show a bunch of different options and features. Usually it will show other menus (like main, advance, power, etc, etc), but you have to go to "Boot" and then find "Boot Device Priority," and you have to set [CD ROM] to first boot device. another option that it should show is "boot-time diagnostic screen" enable that too (this option also shows up under "boot menu."

EDIT* if you don't understand what I just explained, I found a link for you. --->
http://www.hiren.info/pages/bios-boot-cdrom
could be helpful if OPH isn't working for you.

<ANOTHER PROBLEM A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE WHEN USING THIS PROGRAM>

Now, if the CD starts running right away, Slax (or SLAX6) should show up on the screen, it will give you a list of options, but you won't need to enter any of them, it will run on it's own. if something pops up on your monitor saying it's out of range, or if the screen goes blank, press "CTRL - ALT - Numpad + (which is the plus sign right next to your numberpad, incase you didn't know). After pressing that a couple times, it should show up and it will show you all the passwords, elapsed time, etc, etc... then, when it's done or if you want it to stop early for some reason, just hit the power button and the disk will pop out, and the computer will shutdown.

Then, all you need to do, is log on, as if the administrator account is your own.

If there is another problem with your OPHcrack LiveCD, I probably can't help you because I haven't had any other problems with it, but if you're not sure why you can't get it to work, check all of this, because maybe that's why.

also, congradulate me, this is my first actual thread made in hacking.http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii21/palmer640/Smileys/1st.gif

I am not the administrator of this computer, but I am typing from the administrator's account right now, and I installed a program (which requires you to be administrator to install).

Here is a pic of the awesome program I got. :D

The desktop is supposed to be translucent when you're in the Cube...

Shadow also helped me out with a different problem here (http://explosiveweapon.proboards52.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=hacking&thread=516&page=1#4392). you have to be a member to view it though. I had trouble with the hashes so. . . ya check it out.

btw very nice program palm3r ;) I like the chicks in the background haha

That isn't my background though, that was on the administrator's account.

sounds good if you can get on the administrators account, if not just get ERD commander /donedeal.

haha, yeah... Vista and XP have different code structure, and different file-types.

after you click "live CD" it asks you for a Vista version, or an XP version.

or you can get the .EXE, but I recommend the .ISO because it's a passive process that runs on it's own.

Then just follow the instructions on the first post. =D

Incase you didn't understand... that IS how you get on the administrator's account, you don't need to be administrator to get OPHcrack.

I have used oph crack on nearly 100 computers (i work alone in a large building) and it works great. Also if you go into your boot folder, there should be a .png file. You can edit that file as long as you don't change the dimentions. I made my own .png with my ETA logos. So when it boots, it shows my own logo instead of oph crack. heh...

I never knew that. I never really messed around with OPHcrack very much, just used it to crack the "family PC's" adm!n password so i could actually upgrade it instead of leaving it open to viruses, running slow, etc.

What is the .png's directory??

its the main splash screen. when you boot to the OPHCRACK live distro has a screen that pops up. you can edit it any way you like as long as you keep the dimentions the same and the file type. (.png) i changed mine to an ETA Theme.

Sorry, a bit of clarification, what is ETA? I google searched, but it was talking of a Marxist-Lenninist Orgranization, and the logo seemed to be lacking. Is that what you are speaking of?

I don't think you're using it correctly. Are you booting to it or just inserting it while running Windows?

In order to use a Linux LiveCD (which this is), you need to boot to it. I'm sure there are instructions for doing this somewhere on the maker's website, so I suggest you go read them.
